Metropolitan Life Insurance Alleged to Have Wrongfully Terminated Woman’s Benefits

A Santa Clarita woman is appealing the termination of her disability benefits by an insurance company.

Heidi Heinrich filed a complaint on June 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract and breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff became disabled from working in 1999, but the defendant terminated her benefits in July 2017 without a change in her condition.

The plaintiff holds Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly unreasonably withheld benefits from her and failed to investigate her claims. (read more)
