California at Epicenter of Neuro Science Research

neuroCalifornia is “at the epicenter” of national efforts to increase medical research into Alzheimer’s disease, autism, traumatic brain injuries and other brain-related issues. Scientists are probing deeper into the brain with more sophisticated technology than ever to find answers to perplexing conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injuries and autism — and California is at the epicenter. Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation last month earmarking $2 million for a statewide neuroscience research grants program. And President Obama’s BRAIN Initiative — designed to discover more about the brain in order to line up cures and treatments for Alzheimer’s and other disorders — awarded a $26 million grant to the University of California, Berkeley, UCSF, Livermore Labs and others to develop a device that tracks brain signals in people with anxiety or depression according to a recent report at San Francisco Business Times.
