Dave Camp, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee says more Americans would be coaxed to save for retirement if the tax codes were simplified. Camp, the top Republican tax writer, said he hasn’t yet drawn conclusions as to what steps Congress should take on retirement savings as it overhauls the tax code by lowering rates and curtailing tax breaks. He said he also supports the idea of requiring automatic enrollment in individual retirement accounts according to a recent story in the San Francisco Chronicle.
